A Message from Janine Roberts, Chief of Police
Hello and welcome to the City of Westbrook Police Department’s website. Thank you for taking the time to check us out. We hope we provide the information you are looking for on our site. If not, please take the time to drop us a note and let us know how we might improve it to better serve you.
Mission & Core Values
In line with our mission statement and core values, our officers and civilian staff strive to provide the best possible service and protection to our diverse community, improving the quality of life for all who live, work, and play in the City of Westbrook, while acting ethically, impartially, professionally, compassionately, courageously, and being accountable to those we serve and each other.
We take our oath of office seriously and work hard at living up to the high expectations set by our society and our profession. We welcome the opportunity to work with, and learn from, the community we serve. As public servants, we recognize that we work for you - our citizens - and want to include your input in determining where and how we deploy our limited resources.
Acknowledging we cannot enforce our way out of societal problems, we actively practice in community policing with the basic concept that it is extremely important to establish positive relationships to work in partnership with the community and other service providers in attempts to address the public safety issues our city faces. The stronger the relationship we have, the better chance our communications will be more effective because there is mutual respect, trust, and potential for understanding.
Community Partnership
As our partner, we ask you to consciously and intentionally follow the laws and ordinances of our local, state, and federal government. After all, voluntary compliance of all laws is what creates a safe and peaceful community.
Policies, Operations, Training, Community Engagement and Culture
I have created a video providing a brief overview and glimpse into the Westbrook Police Department’s policies, operations, training, community engagement and culture. It does not cover everything we have done/are doing to ensure our officers and professional support staff are of solid character, well trained, and providing the best services we can, with the limited resources we have, to the community we serve. We have been, and remain, committed to working with our community to problem solve the public safety issues with which we are faced. Should you have any questions, please email me at jroberts@westbrook.me.us. To view the video, please follow this link - https://www.facebook.com/WestbrookPD/videos/3247053892011292/.
